随着服务业的快速发展，要想在竞争中处于不败之地，必须在管理、服务等方面提高服务管理意识。面对当前超市行业普遍存在的管理手段、管理技术落后等问题，使用计算机管理在很大程度上可以帮助超市克服这些困难。计算机管理系统可以提高超市的管理水平，节省大量人力、物力和财力，使经营管理更加科学有序、经营物流清晰，经营状况详实、准确。作为计算机应用的一部分,使用计算机对超市信息进行管理,具有着手工管理所无法比拟的优点.例如:检索迅速、查找方便、可靠性高、存储量大、保密性好、寿命长、成本低等。这些优点能够极大地提高超市管理的效率,也是超市发展的科学化、正规化管理,与世界接轨的重要条件。
